Sven j. Olsson ist Hamburger by nature und durch seine Frau Weltenbummler aus Passion. Er studierte Soziologie, schrieb als Filmkritiker für Zeitschriften und Zeitungen, besuchte eine private Schauspielschule in Hamburg und begab sich danach in die Welt des Theaters.
Seit 2008 widmet er sich dem Schreiben von Reiseberichten, Satiren, Romanen sowie Theaterstücken.
Aus seiner Liebe zu Indien sind neben dem Buch „No Problem, Sir!“ mehrere Theaterstücke, so u.a. das Bollywood-Musical „Die mutige Kanhar De“ und der Monolog „Shootingr Dadi – Die zwei Leben von Chandro Tomar“, entstanden. Seine satirische Ader führte zu Komödien über Bankenkrach („Heckenschnitt“) und Religionswahnsinn („Helmut“).
Seit 1989 bemüht sich Sven j. Olsson dem Werk des deutschen Schriftstellers Walter Mehring durch Lesungen, Kabarett-abende oder Dramatisierung seiner Bücher, wie „Müller – Chronik einer deutschen Sippe“, ein Publikum zu verschaffen. Er gab eine Reihe von Anthologien heraus und 2019 erschien seine Novelle, über die Unbehaustheit der Welt, „Nackt“, 2020 „Gedächtnisabend. Über den Suizid“.
Neben dem Schreiben machte er von 2008 bis 2020 Theater mit Wohnungslosen, Flüchtlingen und Kindern.
Er ist stellvertretender Bundesvorsitzender des VS und Mitglied im PEN Zentrum Deutschland. Seit 2019 leitet er mit Anne Weiss die writers4future.

Unser Held wartet also von Montag zu Montag zu … Es ist ein fruchtbar fruchtloses Warten, so wie einst zwei Menschen an einer Haltestelle auf Godot gewartet haben. Erinnerungen, Erkenntnisse, Reflektionen purzeln durch den Warteraum, insofern ist er fruchtbar. Doch sie bessern das Leben, den Alltag-Montag und die Erwartung auf die kommenden Montage nicht. Erlösung ist nicht greifbar, so wie andernorts niemand dem abwesenden Godot auf die Schulter klopfen konnte. Hier zeigt sich am Ende die unfruchtbare Seite des Wartens. Es ist eine Art der Selbstfesselung.

Der Suizid, für Albert Camus der Anfang der Philosophie, ist eines der letzten Tabus unserer Zeit, er ist die gesellschaftliche ›No go area‹. Über ihn lacht man nicht, da senkt man die Stimme und fordert Betroffenheit ein. Zeugte der Suizid in der Antike noch vom freien Willen eines freien Mannes, so band ihm das Christentum den Mantel der Todsünde um, denn der Mensch gehörte der Kirche oder dem Lehnsherrn. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde Suizid klinisch, und heute füllt er die Nachrichten mit der Anzahl seiner Opfer, wenn wieder einer meint, auf direktem Wege ins Paradies einfahren zu können.
